Raise A Quiet Hand If You Know The Answer...

I have not updated y'all on my running status and I know you are on pins and needles wondering if I am still doing it.  I am still running 3-4 times a week and still hating every minute of it...literally, hate it.  This is not the reason for this post.  You see, I would have thought that by now I would either enjoy the running, or would have quit, or would have dropped those pesky pounds from pregnancy (4 years ago but, whatever).  None of those have happened yet.  I was chatting with super hot hubby yesterday about the status of my running and how I would have thought I would be much farther along in the process by now.  I told him that I thought I would have an easier time running (or at least less swearing and hatred)  if I lost a little bit of weight. Now, we have been married for almost 10 years and I would THINK that he would know I was lobbing one right over the plate with this one....I figured he would knock it out of the park but, instead he says..."Ya, it is easier for me when I lose some weight too."  WTF?!?!?  I am really asking here people...what would have been the appropriate answer?

Replace running with elliptical, and I could have written this post.

I lost a bunch of weight about 6 years ago, and it's just not coming off like it used to.

Wait - you mean running doesn't get any better or easier? You don't lose weight just because you're out there running? What??
Yeah...I hate running, too. Yet I keep going out there, still not losing weight, and I'm still not sure why I continue to punish myself with this "hobby".
To answer your question - he was kinda clueless (um...he's a dude) but I have heard that every pound you lose makes it easier to run. I feel as though I can say that because I'm struggling, too - not like him (all super hot and all).
IMHO he should've said something like "I love you just the way you are - but if you think losing weight would make it easier for you to run, I'll still love you the same."
Keep up the great work! I've been wondering how your running was going - glad to hear you're still going!!

Seriously? (See, that's where your signature fit perfect this post!!)

He should have said, "I can't believe you haven't lost weight. You look incredible."

And, he thought he was doing good by understanding your feelings (!).

I have been married 15 years. My husband still doesn't knock it out of the park when I lob one in hanging over the plate. My friend, they NEVER learn. (Even Pavlov's dog figured it out eventually.)

umm I really think that men are insensitive sometimes, but aside from that don't concentrate so much on negative comments! Keep doing it and you will eventually see something happening, your metabolism is adjusting, just be patient:)and then you can model your new body and ask, now what where you saying a couple of weeks ago?

I say, do what you need too. We women will fill the jury, and we'd never convict you.

Are you serious? He actually said that? I'm thinking he would've been better off keeping his trap shut, right? Men!

"Gee, hon, I think the problem is that you are TOO skinny. Your body is probably trying to tell you that you don't need to lose any more weight. Now, let's not worry about that right now. Sit down and eat this cheesecake I made for you while I put the kids to bed and then rub your feet."

THAT'S what he should have said!

What he should have said was . . .

"Honey, you look GREAT!"
"I know what the problem is. Think about it, muscle weighs more than fat . . so you're toning up and it won't show on the scale 'cause it's nice, firm muscle! AND YOU LOOK GREAT!"

I must also add that my neighbor and I used to get exercise machines at yard sales - they really go for cheap. Then we figured out that you actually have to USE the darn things to lose any weight! Yep, we sold them all at our next yard sale!!

not touching the 'should have said' part .. even though I know the answer .. the 'true to my gender' gene will not allow it ..

my brother runs 7 plus miles a day .. 7 plus miles !! every day !! .. There better be a bear chasing me every day if I am going to run .. He says he hates it .. but he likes to eat .. so, it is run or gain weight ..

Just saying .. you know
